OPC servers, like Kepware’s KepServerEx 5.17, simplify automation and communication between devices and systems. But, what happens with geographically distributed systems with limited use of bandwidth networks?

The 5.17 update of KepServerEx offers new enhancements and novelties. Among them we highlight the new Plug-in Scheduler, especially devoted to telecommunications where the bandwidth consumption must be controlled. It’s an addition to KepServerEx responsible for accessing data on a controlled way, easing distribution or bandwidth usage between drivers.

Enhancements in the EFM Exporter plug-in

The EFM Exporter plug-in allows Oil & Gas consumption information to be gathered from specific drivers and files to be generated and imported by a pricing software system like FlowCal. With this version the files do not need to be managed, since a direct connection between this plug-in and FlowCal has been developed.

Enhancements in Local Historian

Local Historian is a low-cost historian primarily included on the 5.16 version of KepServerEx that provides data in OPC-HAD. This version a feature has been added to provide aggregated data, not only raw. The calculations are made by the Plug-in itself, thus offloading the process to HAD clients and reducing the network traffic. The supported aggregated calculations are: Interpolative, Total, Minimum, Maximum, Average and Weighted Average.

Allen Bradley Ethernet Driver

SoftPLC manufactures hardware controllers that communicate similarly to Allen Bradley PLC5. However, SoftPLC controllers have a much bigger memory range and now its extended addressing is supported by KepServerEx.

Allen Bradley Ethernet Driver for ControlLogix

The most modern ControlLogix are now supported with the current firmwares – up to v24. Furthermore, the maximum number of simultaneous channels has been increased from 512 to 1,024, so a higher number of parallel-connected devices are supported.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for a full list of enhancements or access enabled to the new version KepServerEx 5.17 or even to chat personally about these novelties.
